The application process is as follows:

Stage 1:

1. Complete and submit this application with all supporting documents (see below for details).

2. After submitting this application an email will be sent with a link to a Medical Form. This needs to be completed as soon as possible as it will be reviewed as part of the application.

3. Once all supporting documents are received the application will be reviewed.

Staged 2:

1. Phone interview with the course convener/trainer - references identified during the interview can be contacted.

2. Successful applicants will be sent a Letter of Offer.

You may be requested to complete a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy assessment as part of your application process if this is the case you will be emailed a link.

We recommend finding/completing/scanning them first before starting the application. Most of the documents you submit will need to be certified, click here for guidelines for the certification of documents.

2. Secondary schooling transcript - Certified copy (must be in English)

3. Evidence of highest completed qualification - if applicable (e.g. Certificate III or higher) - Certified copy (must be in English)

6. Sponsorship letter - only if your studies will be paid for by a sponsor - This is a signed letter written by your sponsor to confirm that they will be sponsoring you

7. Activity Logbook - only complete if you have prior experience in outdoor recreation (formal or informal e.g. bushwalking, abseiling, climbing, canoeing, kayaking, etc.). Download the activity logbook here. For an example of how to complete the activity logbook download the example here.

8. If applying for credit transfer, provide a copy of your relevant transcript - Certified copy (Must be in English)

If any part of the application is found to contain falsified information, you risk your application being denied, Letter of Offer being withdrawn or your removal from the course.

International English Proficiency:

- International applicants from countries where English is not the first language must demonstrate that they have an adequate level of proficiency in English;

-English language proficiency may be demonstrated by providing evidence of satisfactory performance in the International Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent approved test (e.g. TOEFL PBT, Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English). Applicants who take IELTS must sit either the General module and attain a minimum score of 6.0 or the Academic module and attain a minimum score of 5.5, with consistent results across the bands. If a student cannot demonstrate this score Avondale will require students to undertake a prescribed period of intensive English language tuition before commencing studies at Avondale. Students holding an English language certificate deemed to be equivalent to IELTS 6.0 from an English Language College recognised by Avondale are not required to provide an IELTS score.

Physical Requirements Reminder:

Students should be able to meet the physical requirements of activities included in the course, this means participating in trips that include hiking, camping, and sleeping outdoors with limited assistance. Students should be able to carry their own pack, be comfortable with heights and being away from home, able to camp in remote locations and be able to undertake physically demanding activities working in small groups.
